Welk Resort Escondido

Founded by bandleader Lawrence Welk, this resort is set on 600 acres of rolling hills 40 miles north of downtown San Diego and 22 miles from Temecula Valley, Southern California's wine country. The expansive grounds include two 18-hole golf courses, four tennis courts, four recreation centers, multiple pools and spa tubs, hiking and biking trails, and a water park with a 140-foot waterslide and an interactive playground.

The popular 339-seat Welk Theater (surcharges) produces top-notch Broadway-style musicals such as Fiddler on the Roof. Daily activities for all ages (surcharges may apply) include water aerobics, arts and crafts, movie nights, and welcome socials.

Classic American fare is served in Canyon Grille with outdoor seating available. A convenience store and a pizza outlet are also on the resort grounds. Guests of Welk Resort San Diego also have access to gas barbecue grills.

Tours to J. Paul Getty Museum, Hollywood, San Diego Old Town, and other destinations can be arranged (surcharge).

Guest parking is complimentary. Smoking is not permitted inside the resort. Designated areas are available for motorcycles, recreational vehicles, and trailers.
